MTS: News sites’ traffic plunges 60% over 6 months

MOSCOW, Sep 8 (PRIME) -- Traffic of Russia’s news websites decreased by 60% in August compared to March, and the number of unique users halved over the period, mobile operator MTS said in a research on Thursday.

The data transfer volume increased on the websites with news about celebrities by 15%, the platforms with funny stories and jokes by 20%, and resources about cinema by 10%.

Traffic of online cinemas increased by 32% in August from March with the highest growth shown by MTS’ service KION whose traffic jumped by 120% as well as by Rostelecom’s Wink with 110% and Yandex’s Kinopoisk with 90%.

Traffic of mobile games soared by 60% with the highest rise seen at Genshin Impact by 70%, Candy Crush Saga by 50%, and Call of Duty by 40%.
